Hit my stride

When I think of myself as 40, I often think of my parents at this same age. Does everyone else do this?

At 40 years old my parents were already grandparents to my niece Kristin and were watching me graduate from high school and start college. I think about how young they were when they had and raised my sister and I. It is a bit shocking. They faced so much, so early in life. It gives me such an appreciation of all they did for us.

As a kid, 40 years old seemed so far off. It felt so old to me. But at 40 years old, I do not feel like I am middle-aged. I feel like I have just hit my stride. I feel like I am in a good place in life. I do not feel old at all. I wonder if that is how my parents felt at 40 years old too?

  1. I'll be 40 next year and I'm constantly thinking about my parents and how old I alwaus thought they were ( my father was 39 when I was born). Honestly, 40 is hitting me really hard. I feel young, but living with the title "40" is tough for me...

  3. I am trying to approach it as a state of mind. I may be 40, but I feel 30 in my head.
