Lucy is definitely a puppy who looks to do exactly what her sister is doing. You see this hundreds of times a day. If Zoe is crewing a bone, Lucy wants that bone, even though there are 3 others inches away. If Zoe is lying on the chair, Lucy wants to lay on the chair with her. If Zoe goes outside Lucy goes outside. If Zoe comes inside, Lucy comes inside. It is monkey see, monkey do all day long. Thankfully Zoe is incredibly patient and even though her eyes say she is annoyed as hell, she never lashes out at Lucy. If nothing else, Zoe is incredibly patient.
Watching Lucy and Zoe makes me realize how much I must have annoyed my own older sister Rachel when we were kids. For those who are not aware, Rachel is three years older than me, even though she regularly gives her age now as three to five years younger than me. Anyhow, If Rachel went to the park, I wanted to go to the park. If she got a cool new toy, I wanted that cool new tool. When Rachel wanted to date boys of course I wanted to date boys. Looking back now, it is clear that if I had an older brother I would be straight today. Who knew?
I just wish my sister was as patient as Zoe is with Lucy. Rachel's eyes not only told me she hated her brother tagging along, but the screaming, hitting and running away from me also gave me a slight hint that she did not want me around. Thankfully, I did not accept subtleties like that and hung in there day after day.
I am happy Zoe and Lucy have each other and do get along and although Zoe would probably never admit it, I am sure she loves being a big sister to Lucy. I bet she digs that little Lucy wants to be just like her. I wonder if my sister ever felt that way? It was hard to tell with her always hitting me.
