I need everyone's help (again). I know I have asked a lot this holiday season but I need to ask one more time. Dale and I are trying to raise money for a family, whose Mom is undergoing treatment for cancer at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center. This family is struggling under a huge weight of medical bills, which is forcing the parents to have to make decisions between paying medical bills, paying household expenses, buying groceries and giving their children a Christmas.
Dale and I can tell you there is more than enough stress dealing with cancer and I could not imagine doing this with poor or no insurance. We are truly blessed that my employer, Bridgeline Software offers medical coverage and cares so much about their employees and equality that they extend this coverage to include Domestic Partners. It is because of this, Dale has medical insurance and is able to receive the amazing medical care week after week I blog about.
The incredible staff of doctors, nurses and technicians at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, who already give so much of their own time to help their patients are coming together and buying gift cards to help this family with groceries and toys for the children at Christmas. Dale and I also plan to pitch in and help the family with gift cards to hopefully reduce some of the burden and stress they are facing this year.
If anyone is interested in donating, I promise I will get your donation converted into a gift card to help this family. I know this is a difficult year for so many of us, but please take a minute to consider if you could spare $5 or more in the next few weeks. Could you skip that Starbucks to help this family? Or maybe brig your lunch rather than go out to eat for a day or two? If I could get just 20 of you to donate $5, that $100 would make a huge difference in the life of this family. This is your change to donate and know the money is going directly to a family in need. Please consider giving as anything will help - even $1 will add up.
You can mail checks, Target or King Soopers (local supermarket) gift cards or even cash to me at my work address. Please send to:

Checks can be made out to me and I give my word I will use every dollar sent to buy gift cards at King Soopers (local supermarket) and Target for this family in need.
Thank you all for reading this and best wishes for a wonderful and safe holiday season.

Tom,
How old are the kids?
Nell - I do not know as they do not come to the clinic, but my guess from people talking is younger than teens. That was why we are doing giftcards, so we do not have to get things by age.
Do you need me to find out?
That's ok. I will pick up a gift card today and get it int he mail to you.
Thank you Nell. That is so wonderful and kind of you. I appreciate all the help. Merry Christmas!
We are doing this at my cancer center too...We adopted a family...Mom is in her late 30s battling cancer all over her body...3 kids under 11. They wouldn't have had Christmas otherwise and this could be the last one with their mom. Heartbreaking. Feels so good to give them some happiness. Count me in Tom...I'll mail you a check today. You and Dale are good people.
Shannon - thank you so much. I appreciate it and it is great the cancer center you work at is doing this too. It is so hard to imagine having to decide paying for your medication or providing your kids a Christmas. Heartbreaking. Thanks again.
