Facebook: Connecting You With People You Love, But Never Thought You'd Hear From Again.

Today I heard from one of my favorite people in the world on Facebook. My childhood friend - Stacey Bishop.

I have known Stacey since the 7th grade. We lived on the same street. I cannot remember the last time I spoke with her...maybe 10 or 12 years. She joined Facebook this morning and added me as a friend. Yeah!

Stacey is actually the first person I ever went on a date with. It was a double date with my friend Mike Flynn and Sandy Dickinson. We saw the movie Pretty in Pink. You know, the teen drama starring Molly Ringwald before Hollywood dumped her ass and she moved to France. If memory serves, we went to the movie theater at the old Northway Mall in Colonie, NY. I think I wore a green shirt. My Mom probably bought it for me. I was too much of a geek to pick out my own clothes. Ah, memories.

Stacey and I were great friends all through high school and actually Stacey, my other ex-girlfriend, Jenn Wheland and I spent a lot of time together junior and senior year. I know it sounds strange, even to me when I type it, but it was a small school. And I was a confused gay man.

I love Facebook. It's tag line should be Facebook: Connecting You With People You Love, But Never Thought You'd Hear From Again.

It is nice having Stacey back in my life again, even if it is just writing on each others wall on Facebook. She is a great person and I have wonderful memories of her.

  1. seems to me like facebook is having a bit of a renaissance lately. At least for me, I loved it at first, then sorta went through a phase where I was annoyed by it, but now it seems like it has matured into a something truly useful. maybe the redesign helped. Maybe i just learned to appreciate it for what it is.

  2. Dean - I agree.I stopped using it for months at one point. I think people are mostly over the lame applications and now using it as a way to communicate and stay in touch. I actually like it again, including the new layout, since I do not have to see all the application junk.
